Intex International is a brand driven by its people with a
shared purpose to leave an enduring impact.
1989
Intex International's early beginnings commenced in 1989 in Melbourne Australia after founder and CEO Simon J Salisbury identified ongoing demand for metal plasterboard angles.
“I was a young salesman employed at an architectural company in the mid-1980s and my clients constantly requested perforated angles”, Simon explains. “The larger producers of the day had ceased supply which I could never understand”. In answer to the opportunity, Simon registered the company, taking its name in abbreviation of the original product – internal and external profiles – and commenced supplying a network of retailers throughout Australia.
1991
Having directly responded to the industry’s demands and developed a supply chain with service excellence being of all importance, Intex established it's first premises and the word spread and the company snowballed, forming great relationships with distributors across Australia.
1993
By the 1990s the team had increased tenfold to fulfil demand, the product became associated with many of the nation’s most significant residential and commercial projects, and the expansion of range with tools and accessories was established
1995
Behind closed doors, research and development, played a significant part in the operation’s strategic movement, securing plants in Taiwan and China along with licenced manufacturers in America and Germany. This paved the way to complement the primary offering, incorporating a range of structural wall and ceiling systems, fixings and materials, and an advanced awareness and use of automatic finishing tools in Australia. Intex soon boasted the most comprehensive range of products in the industry.
1997
As formally engaged in the design, development, manufacturing, marketing and sales of the solution, the intermit understanding of the industry and close collaboration with professionals allowed Intex to harnesses the power of innovation and create opportunities for virtually every requirement. Some of these notable advancements included the development and introduction of the drywall power sander and auto-feed collated screws, which proceeded to revolutionise the industry and remain unchanged today.
1998
The product portfolio continued to develop , fuelled by the demand of retailers as proving the unique benefit of a single supply destination, and contractors for a specific brand for all wall and ceiling requirements.
2008
By the late 2010s, wholesale distribution throughout Australasia had streamlined with branches established in all major cities. Having much more to offer, Intex set sights on becoming a respected global player and commenced expanding the reach in New Zealand, showcasing the solution through online channels and international exhibitions and events.
2017
Being well received, Intex has matured into an international corporation with multiple locations across the globe, operating through an extensive network of retail partners completing the global supply chain, distributing the Intex brand and complete integrated Intex system of products to a global market. This included our introduction to US market later that year.
2019
Embracing the future, Intex continued to establish long-term relationships with industry associations, by expanding its huge range even more with the introduction of Joint Compounds & Adhesives.
